Ok so it starts out as I bought the car with a blown tranny was forced to put a NT tranny, flywheel and starter, wasn't thinking that I needed to change the spacer plate(between the trans and the engine block), I then just hacked the turbo plate one to fit all the NT stuff. Couple weeks late I was pulling the motor to change the head gasket(had to do this2 other times) the last time I did it I got everything back in the car and mostly hooked up(except the 2 oil housing wires). I then tried to start it and was put down by it not starting and doing a horrific grinding noise. I then got frustrated with it and took it to a new shop in town, a guy I thought knew what he was talking about and was very good seeing the other vehicle that he has worked on. Anyways he got it run and start with out the grinding. He told me why it wouldn't start and that he took that spacer plate out and since then he had started it at least 20 times and never grinded once. I then paid him and started the car(again with no grinding)very pleased and statistedfied. 2 or 3 day late I get off work and I was to start it and let it warm up because the next day I would be getting insurance and plate I would have a car again. I was put down again by the starter grinding and then just spinning. I take the car back to the same shop and being he's starting a new shop and having to remodel he wasn't able to get it in until money. Ended up being Thursday he would be able to begin on the car so I take it back and out a brand new starter on and it didn't help any so I start to pull the tranny to change the flywheel but that looks fine. Then I got to looking in side the tranny and there are two grind marks on the inside.

I saw those and I bolted the clutch to the flywheel and then put it on the clutch shaft(Thinking thats what its called I don't know) inside the tanny and the flywheel is no where close to the tanny walls. So now I'm here and confused. any idea what could be going out

where your bellhousing bolts loose. I had a 94 hyundai elantra that I swapped a non-turbo 4g63. I welded up all the motor mounts, and eliminated the blance shafts. It would vibrate some of the bellhousing bolts out. Causing the transmission to tilt and the flywheel to hit the trans, leaving grooves like yours. I would put a nt plate in there locktite your bellhousing bolts and see what happens. Also I wouldnt expect a nt trans to last long, because Ive seen alot of people blow turbo fwd trannys, and they are alot stronger.

The turbos and nonturbos have different size flywheels. The marks you see are from your flywheel/clutch hitting the bellhousing.

Also make sure that the dowel pins are their, if not then you have problems.

i just tried to fit the turbo flywheel inside the bellhousing and it doesn't fit

Is there any difference at all between the turbo crank and the N/T crank?
I don't know the answer to this one but thought I'd throw it out there as a possible thing to look up.

If not, then flywheel bolts loose?

Clutch lined up perfectly?(i.e. used proper alignment tool)

Did anyone add balance weights to the flywheel?

Hows the tranny input bearing?

Bellhousing bolts loose was already been mentioned by Lofer (worth putting a wrench on them again though if you haven't already)

What brand is that clutch? Never know if its some cheapo that is deforming with use. Alot of parts stores are now selling real cheap stuff with great warranties. Problem is that it doesn't last long and often causes other problems.

What EXACTLY is rubbing? The teeth on the flywheel? or a clutch bolt thats too long? Sorry, I couldn't quite tell after rereading your post.

When you find out please post back up so others who might experience the same thing can be helped.:thumb:
