ok car has lots of mods, has everything.well ill get right to it, car ran fine, no issues, then the other morning went out to start it but just wouldnt start, i took the day of work to try to figure it out. so i have spark, i have fuel, i have compression. i can hear the fuel pump, the plugs are in right order, inj plugs are right.
when i remove the cam angle and rotate it by hand i can hear the injectors firing one at a time, i see the fuel in the champers, here is there it gets weird, when i install the noid light it wont light up when i turn it over! im dead in the water! i have tried everything i have asked my tuner, he is also mind boggled. if anyone has any ideas please let me know, at this stage it may be the injector relay(i dont think so) or the ecu(dont think so)
please help...

...well got it started, dont know how, i took the ecu into the house, removed dsmlink chip and cleaned socket. plug in the ecu to car and dried the excess fuel, checked the noid lights and this time it did light up like it should. it started right up but only on 3 cylinders, i kept it runing for a few minutes and it rightified itself. im glad i got it runing but i still dont know what caused this pain in a$$. thanks for all the helpful info. happy new year!

Did you check your spark plugs. There was a thread about the same problem. He had plenty of fuel and spark from the wires, but not the actual plug. Try taking the plugs out, and tell me how they look. Replace them if you must and hopefully that works. If not, the car could be hydrolocked. I dunno, then.

im having the same problem right now...
so im not going to make another thread
anyways same thing it drove fine the night before
and this morning car would'nt start...i know im
getting fuel i can smell it sometimes...i also did some
search on this so it can either be my ecu or crankshaft angle sensor
how do i know for sure if the sensor is bad?
i also don't feel like getting a new ecu if i mines still good..

DSM=if its not one thing its another:cry:

yes i tired that plugs have spark, i checked timing, rewired the cam angle.
justocar1 try checking the cooling temp senser, make sure its good and pluged in! if yes then were in the same boat!

So am I correct in assuming that the car actually cranks over? As in the starter spins the engine, but just keeps on spinning and not starting?

ISC probably isn't your problem, but your ECU is really starting to sound suspect. I had similar issues with an ECU that had incorrectly installed capacitors and the car would only start after 2 or 3 minutes of cranking.

Take out your ECU and if you see any black or brown (basically burn marks) anywhere on it, it's pretty much toast. It'll also smell a little like rotten seafood. :D

Had That Problem On My Buddies Tsi.. The Ecu Blew A Cap.. Then Leaked On The Board.. He Didnt Have The Mods You Have But Id Check The Ecu Also...

You pretty much answered your own question when you noted that the noid light wouldn't flash. This is due to either the injectors lost their 12 volts from the ignition switch or the pcm is not modulating the grounding side of the injectors. We need to know what part you lost. Find out and then post. We can then go from there.

Ive had a simular problem on 2 different DsMs , one had a gm maf,and it being so cold..it just wouldnt start ..problem found..

On the second car , it would get fuel, spark, and still not turn over, i pulled the fuel return and no fuel made it past the fpr, but fuel shot out the fuel feed line.
turned out to be a bad fuel filter .. check it .

Ive also had dsms with sticking fuel pump relays ..that stuck only on occasion. LOL..these cars are awesome.

all injectors have a 12v source, when the cam angle sensor is rotated i can hear each one of the inj firing and can see fuel in the chambers. i still dont know why the noid lights wont light up. it does seem to be a inj ground pulse not getting to inj, but why do inj still fire?

You may be a victim of defective test equipment. If your noid light does not flash and you have 12 volts and grounding, you could be chasing your tail due to burned out noid light. Take a test light and hook it to 12 volt positive and then probe the ground side of the injector wire. Crank the engine and observe the light. Does it flash? Is it steady? Does it not light at all? Let's get this one resolved and then we can move on.

thanks for the advanced tech info old mitsu tech, but the noid lights are all new, bought just for this problem, but i will try the test light idea. im in the process for finding stock injectors, installing them and installing my stock ecu, trying to rule out some factors. ill post my findings asap! thanks.

ok lets see i so far i checked
compression 155 all across, got spark, got fuel,
timming on cams looks to be in line, and its not
throwing about any codes on the diagnostic scanner...
what else could it be...my oil smells like gas too but i
think its because i threw so much fuel in the engine
while trying to crank it over and over and fuel not burning...

any more ideas? i don't think its a sensor cus its not showing a
code on the scanner....
im stuck

update:
got it started
changed oil and spark plugs and STARTED WTF
its running just fine again....what was that all bout?
the only thing i see different is the my air/fuel gauge "NOT wideband"
is reading lean for a period of time...stays on lean longer then it
used to....FPR set to 43psi
