ok to use .48 exhaust housing with .42 intake housing.

I cut the car off, because I could hear the turbine wheel scraping the intake housing. I am getting it balanced and am going to put it back on. I was just wondering is it fine to use a .48 exhaust housing with a .42 intake housing. the turbo was originally .42 garrett t3.
 
The A/Rs don't have to match. The A/R's are matched to your flow needs and the wheels inside them, not to each other. I don't think you can even get a .48 compressor housing. A few questions, did you get a new turbine wheel and housing? Why didn't you just go with a 14b or 16g if you were getting a turbo that size?
 
The turbo is a t3 garrett airesearch. The reason I got this turbo is because my friend bought the car and it came with a blown xspower turbo. So I got the t3 garrett, so it would bolt up to the exhaust flanges. It has a 5 bolt exhaust flange and t3 manifold. When I bought the turbo It came with a turbonetics exhaust housing .48. The nut on the turbine wheel loosened up after runing it for less than 10 min. I am just trying to figure out why the nut would loosen up.
 
The nut loosened up beause either the person who built it did a crappy job. Or some one has had it apart and took teh compressor wheel off. I forget teh torque spec on garret turbos, but just ahve teh shop that's balancing it make sure that they put sme thread lock on it and torque it to spec.
