Ive been trying to get my car back to normal for a good 3 months so any help would be appreciated :)

problems I'm having: the car seems like it lost tons of power, idle is very rough, some kind of black droplets are coming out of my exhaust when i rev the motor (kinda sweet smelling, i think its fuel), at idle i feel the exhaust gases and they seem to be very very moist, i have almost transparent puffs of black smoke coming from my exhaust (just able to see that there black)

this all started when i changed the intercooler from stock to a SSAC FMIC, i was still on the stock turbo (t25), i thought it was the turbo causing me problems, so i changed it to a EVOIII 16g, it didn't help at all, I can not get past 4k rpm the BOV doesn't really sound like it used too (1g bov), Ive checked the MAS, i unplugged it and the car almost ran the same very slight difference, i know the EGR valve is bad, i plan to block it off to see if it helps any

please any advice will be appreciated:coy:

another question/problem

I have a Voodoo boost MBC (ebay POS) and if i back out the screw all the way the ball and spring move freely inside, i can here them moving if i shake it, is this normal? or could this be my boosting problem?

im sorry im kinda a noob :coy:

Question1 > Boost leak test your intake to make sure no leaks which woudl cause an over rich situation. Are you re-routing the BOV to the intake pipe? Do you have any CELs?

Question2 > Normal for all ball/spring MBCs I've had. With it screewd out that loose, you should be running near stock (as dictated by the wastegate spring pressure) boost levels.

BTW, DougsDynopower is 10mins from you in Henderson and has specialized in DSMs for, well, forever if you want a professional to help :dsm:

i have tested it and no leaks at all (except for the MBC)...sorry shoud have added that

nice to know there is someone that specializes in DSMs out here...are they still open? The last time i see the site was updated was at the end of the 1999 season LOL :talon:

I'm suprised you didn't say this first.:p

Check compression. If the numbers come up bad, then do a leak down test. And make sure you are doing the BLT properly before you count out a boost leak. The hard boost leaks can barely be heard without removing something or doing something (EI, valve seals and TB shaft seals).

compression #...thank god for auto zone rentals :D

from left to right

175-169-172-180

if I'm not mistaken that's good right?

im only getting -12 vac but if i rev it it drops to -20 then goes back to -12, could the EGR be affecting my car in this way?

You compression numbers are good.

Black plugs indicate you are running over-rich which could be (not an exhaustive list):
- Boost leak post turbo
- MAF Malfunction (if bad will go into "safe" mode)
- EGR Valve malfunction - try a blockoff plate / can make one yourself out of sheet metal
- O2 Sensor bad
- Obstruction in intake tract
- Cooling system failure / engine not reaching proper operating temp (thermostat, temp sensor)
- Ignition system failure
- Injector(s) sticking open

One trick you may want to try is to reset the ECU by disconnecting the (-) battery cable for a few mins to clear any stored codes, though have AutoZone run their "Free" Diagnosic first to see if any were stored/what they were. Then make sure all connections (MAF, O2, Temp Sensors) are secure, clean the plugs/new plugs and see if helps :dsm:

I'm going to say boost leak. I've ran a couple of boost leaks on local DSMers cars that SWEAR that didn't have a boost leak. I would come over and run one myself and they would look at me all WTF when I get under the car to set the cranks timing mark to 12:00 after which I found a few boost leaks.

I was searching for my problem and this guy has the same exact symptoms that my car has, rough idle, fuel coming out the exhaust, low vac

how can i check timing? would i need a timing light?

yes, you will need a timing light.... here's a good site for checking the timing...and adjusting it if need be.

Engine Timing

every time i've screwed up a timing belt job, i've always gotten poor idle and acceleration up to a certain point, then everything kinda clears up and the car takes off like a rocket!
