Does 420A heater hose go past firewall?

I'm trying to replace the lower heater hose on my 420A motor, and I can't tell if the hose goes through the firewall and all the way to the heater core, or if it ends at the firewall and can be replaced there.

Can anybody with a 420A who's worked on these hoses before possibly help me out? I believe they do end at the firewall since there are clamps on the hose there, but I'm not entirely sure since I gave it some serious pulling for almost an hour and it wouldn't come off.

I'd just like to know I'm not pulling for nothing. Thanks for the help! :]

I'd imagine they stop at the firewall seeing as the rubber hoses that OEMs supply do deteriorate over time and I think there would be some major law suits if someone's hose blew out inside the car splashing people with hot coolant/vapor.
