i was running a just a dwn pipe for quite sometime after puttin a motor out of a wrecked car in and when i finally got my full exhuast in i can finally here a loud engine noise at about 2500 to 3500.
it makes the car vibrate a bit too. from in the car it sounds like i have metal motor mounts or something.
car has great drivability, builds boost, idles, good revs, no stuttering
when you listin to it under the it sounds like it's coming from everywhere. it sounds like a grinding or a loud roaring.
the sound is most potent when you let off the gas or decelerating in gear. it's annoying as hell. anyone experience this before

May want to drop the lower timing cover an make sure whomever touched the timign belt last was smart enough to set the oil pump/balance shaft to the right phase/timing mark. Although will not immediately damage th engine, it will be annoying as hell and should be corrected :dsm:

yeah i checked it it's dead on...it lines up like every 3 to 6 rotation i believe. everything is all lined up good when it is pointing at the mark. it almost sounds like it is coming from the intermediate shsft area. i have no AC but i left the bracket there.

if it sounds like ticking then check the valves, i have had same problems because i put cheap oil in the motor, after done a good oil change problem sloved.

no i wasn't i ticking it was like i loud roaring. vibration with a loud noise as well. i finall baught i new interbediate shaft because i was trying to eliminate all the things that might be bolted to the engine (i.e. motor mounts, brackets, pulleys, intake mani) and after that it went away almost completly. sounds fantastic now. i have solid mounts now so i get a lil vibration from that but no more abnoxious noise. thanks from your insight guys. i know you can only get so much info from what i say so problem diag is a real B*@#H on here. i apperciate your help =)
