Okay so a few months ago I replaced my clutch and had a few problems reinstalling my starter. The car started fine for a few weeks but after a while it started to hard start, taking quite a few revolutions until it finally kicks over. It only does this when the car is cold, as in not been running for a while. I recently tested my battery, and replaced the alternator trying to pinpoint the problem. It still hard starts, and after starting, I can hear the starter gear hitting the moving flywheel as if it isn't disengaging. Has anyone had a similar problem? I really need to fix this before winter.

So, you're having problems with your starter, so that prompted you to replace the alternater? If the starter is not disingaging, then try replacing it with a known good starter.

sounds to me like you need to replace your starter?
i bought one from napa with a lifetime replacement warranty (120$ or so after my master installer's discount)
