Ok so earlier today I went to the store and my car run just fine in fact it ran fine all day. So came home from the store came inside and about two and half hours later I go to start it and it wont start. The first couple times I tried to start it there was what sounded like a buzzing sound coming from under the dash and some what on the passenger side. After that the sound stopped. The car wont turn over at all. I have power to everything else my lights, sunroof, windows, stereo system so i cant believe it would be my battery plus it was just replaced not that long ago. Any ideas? The buzzing sound has me a bit worried and not turning over. Thanks guys

did you check your fuses? that would be the next logical step, and if all fuses are good, make sure any obvious connectors are plugged in tight, then move to your relays. check your troubleshooting guide in your manual if you have one. just my $.02

Yea thats the first thing im checking tomorrow morning. Its dark outside and i cant really do anything right now just trying to get some suggestions. Could it possibly be the starter? It sounded like the noise came from the general area where the starter is but I dont know for sure.

Hey can you be more specific? The buzzing sound, could it be the sound of a electric motor spinning? Make sure all the electrical connections to the starter are good (there should be 3 of them I think). Disconnect them then clean them and reconnect them. Chances are your starter is spinning (hence the buzzing sound) but it is not engaging (connecting the sprocket to the flywheel). If it's not engaging it's probably a bad electrical connection somewhere.

If you remove the starter from the car you can take it apart (BE VERY CAREFUL TO REMEMBER WHAT GOES WHERE OR ELSE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO REASSEMBLE IT CORRECTLY). Once you have it apart check all electrical connections with a multimeter. This is also a good time to replace the starter's brushes. They look like 4 black rectangular boxes connected by wires. They are connected to a aluminum ring attached with springs. Take the whole assembly (ring and 4 brushes) to a shop and ask them to put in new brushes. This will keep your starter going for a long time. Hope you get it fixed, Tom.

Thanks for the replies guys! Turned out to be the starter relay on the passenger side. For some reason it was popped out of place and i pushed it back in and it fired right back up :thumb: Thanks for the quick responses guys! This site is hands down the best thing created for DSM owners.
