I got a newb question here. I just rebuilt my head installed it everthing is fine but the two bolts that hold the Intake manifold down. They are very hard to get to....ie underneath the intake manny so i left them out. Is this going to be a problem? Should i not worry about it? Should i put them back in asap?

He is talking about the bolts that hold the intake manifold itself to the head. I would definitely put them back on there....they serve a purpose or they wouldn't be there.

If the bolts you are talking about are the ones that hold the intake manifold to the cylinder head than you definately need to put them in. Leaving them out could eventually cause the gasket to fail in the area where the bolts are missing.

If by chance you're talking about the intake manifold brace/support, then no, you do not have to re-install it. And no, neglecting to put the brace back on will not cause a boost leak at the intake manifold gasket. If there happens to be a leak there, then something else is wrong.

Definitly talking about the brace support. Only reason i asked this is if i remember correctly it was a gold plated treading with a hole in the center. I just want to make sure i can leave them out and it wont leak. So you are posotive i can leave them out?

Just to emphasis my point ---> YES!

Personally I think you should reinstall this brace & the little brace back to the Throttle Body if you've done the BSE - which BTW you SHOULD be doing the BSE during this Head job - Yes it's kinda tough to get the Bolts back in & you MAY need to shim it with a Washer between the Brace & Head to boot but it IS DOABLE - It's no tougher than getting those damn Bolts out when you pulled the Head - Guys DO leave these Braces off but there HAVE been Posts from guys who blamed their Intake Gasket failures on doing so - I'm SURE there's someone with no Braces & no BS Shafts who have NO problems too - Give your Starter Motor & Cable a GOOD cleaning/lookover TOO while you have the Head off - Good luck

I've got a couple quotes for you and the OP.

I have NEVER re-installed one of those brackets and I never had a stock manifold leak on me! That ISN'T your problem!

I would check the gasket [if there's a leak somewhere along the IM gasket]. The piece your are referring to is basically an emission bracket and has nothing to do with supporting the IM.
