i've searched and most people have mods on their cars. my car is stock with the exception of a magnaflow muffler. my car idles fine (~ 800 rpm), no idle surge, etc. my CEL was on right after i bought the car. I've swapped the current MAS w/ a spare i had, and bought new O rings, sheets, etc for my injectors. This past sunday I took off my o2 sensor hoping to replace it with another one i had laying around but the thread on the spare was messed up. I ended up putting my old one back on.

After putting my old one back on my CEL stopped showing for a good 1 1/2 days. i just got back from the local emissions station with a big FAIL. This is where my problem is:

HC: (Idle) reads: 264.2 should be: 220.0
CO: (Idle) reads: 2.37 should be: 1.20

all other equipment passed i.e. cat, PCV, oxygen sensor, etc. i really thought my o2 sensor was the reason but not too sure anymore. any ideas on this stock car?

98 Talons are junk, I think you should just part it out and be done with it. I'll buy the front bumper cover ;)

Seriously tho what codes did it have when the light was on? That o2 sensor could cause a bad rich condition with that car. But if you post your code/codes I'm sure someone can help you on here.

So...... You ready to part it out yet? :D

ck for boost vacuum leaks that will mess the fuel trims ecu only can adjust so much before the light comes on

This is a good point. If you gas the car hard will it stumble and puff black smoke?

Fuel trim trouble can be caused by boost or vacuum leaks maybe even a bad FPR.
