I've got a 93 tsi i just picked up i put a new water pump and timing belt in it and got it going and went for a cruise last night. I cant seem to keep coolant in it white it sits however when im driving it runs and drives great with no smoke, i also checked the oil looks normal no milkyness. it fired right up and ran normally on the way to work but when i went out to lunch it wouldnt start and is out of coolant again any help would be great thanks.

Not sure thats what i think it is too but theres absolutly no smoke and the oil isnt milky. would the low coolant stop it from stating cause of tyhe temp sensor

Well i found the problem is my timing belt came loose but i've decided to do the head gasket while i have it torn apart is there any thing else i should look for while i have it apart

If it were ME, while I had it apart, I'd go ahead and replace the water pump, balance shaft belt (duh), and re-do the rest of the belts as well. While the head is off you can take a look at the cylinder walls and tops of the piston, etc. It's also a good time to knock out a tune up (plugs, wires, the whole shebang) While you're down doing the timing belt there you can get busy with a set of rags and clean all the gunk off of the oil pan\timing covers. Good luck and don't forget to double check the auto tensioner when you re-install it if you're not going to replace it. (I forgot to check it, and it's no fun hearing valves smack pistons LoL)
