Occasionally, my 98 GS will encounter a starting problem. Its almost like the engine isnt getting enough fuel. If I lightly depress my accelerator when trying to start the car, it fixes the problem. The spark plugs are new, I replaced them with the last oil change. My car has 94,000 miles on it. I was thinking that maybe it could be a dirty fuel filter but I havent checked yet. Originally, I was thinking maybe something was arcing because it would often occur when it was raining outside. However, it does it on a perfecly dry day as well. Its almost like there is no fuel redilly available in the lines when starting, but afterwards, everything is fine.

If the car sits, it will take longer to start than if it has just been driven?

If so, you may have a leak and are losing your prime. Install a fuel pressure gauge, prime the system, then shut it off and watch the gauge. It should hold it's prime. It could be leaking out a line or bad connection somewhere, back past the check valve in the fuel pump, or into your cylinder through leaky injectors.

Let us know.
