westbank,
i have a 1990 eagle talon tsi turbo 5-speed fwd, and on both sides, right behind the brake rotor, the little rubber it torn and there is dirt and shit in the joint, i want to know if the awd ones are the same as the fwd, and are they hard to replace?

And its difficulty is relative to the ability and experience of the person doing the job, along with the age or the piece. You may have problems getting the axle nut off, and knocking the axle from the hub.

Both of u guys are right, i had to do this to both sides of my eclipse because i needed to replace both axles. But yeah, use PB blaster and soke the crap out of it and use an impact on the nut. after u get the nut off turn it around and thread it on so its flush with the end of the axle. This way you will not mess up the threads. then use a hammer and beat on it. If it wont budge get the axle nice and hot with a torch and it should slide right out. Since the rubber boots are riped its most likely that the CV joints are bad. Its best to get a new axle. They are 50 bucks roughly from a local parts store. Once you get the axle end out of the spindle, use a pry bar and pry it from the transmission. There is a snap ring inside that holds it in but with a lil force they pop right out. Make sure to put more trany fluid back in because it will drain some out. If ya have any questions let me know.

thanks alot i think that should be it, i got the parts now and im just going to try and get it done, or see how it goes. ill post again on my progress
