Why is my car shaking so much?

I picked up my car from the mechanic after getting an alignment and something did not sound right soon as I started it up. It was like the car was running with a real rough idle. I start to drive it and the car is chattering like I have it in 5th gear going 10 mph. (I didn't really have it in fifth; just an analogy). It chatters real violently through all the gears till I get above 40mph, then it seems to taper off. By "chatter", I mean the car is shaking.

What is up with my car?

Intake or exhaust leak maybe?

BTW, my temperature gauge reaches the slash mark right before the red when it is fully warm (which takes a long time). I dunno if that helps

I'm guessing it wasn't doing any of this before you dropped it off? Is thats the case I would take it back and ask them whats going on. I know at my shop if a car has a problem when it comes in, other than whats it's there for we have to make a note of it. It's like a liability issue or something. Maybe when they aligned it they bumped something or maybe they took it for a "test drive"! In either case I would take it back to them and find out what happened.

TAKE IT BACK before they deny the error on their part. They may have taken it for a joy ride. I took mine to the mechanic and when i got the car my nitrous bottle was screwed open and my nitrous line was connected (i always have the bottle off and the line disconnected)....ps. I got an oil change and came back 30min later due to a doctors appt. Wow was their manager mad.

TAKE IT BACK, they may not have tightened tie rod ends, upper or lower strut bolts, possibly left wheel loose or not tightened eccentrics on rear trailing arms,

Well my car did this before about a month ago. I though it had something to do with the alternator and battery going bad but I guess not. I am going to bring it down to my friend's garage and put it up on the lift. I will check the tie rod ends and the rear eccentric bolts as well to make sure everything is nice and snug.

Anyone else know why my car is shaking so violently?
