What is this wire?

I just purchased my 97 Eclipse RS and am redoing the interior. Upon removing the right panel in the hatch area, I found a wire that is unplugged. My rear defrost doesn't work, could this be why?

It actually is a male connector, has several wires going to it.

Does your car have a power antenna? Is that the side your antenna is on?

give us a clearer picture of the face of the polug where it actually "plugs in" so we can see the shape. And let us know what color the wires going into it are and what order.

No, I do not have a power antenna, but the antenna is on the other side anyways. These are the best pics I could get since it is dark outside.

It has three wires going to it : red, blue, and black.

I'm thinking this may be for the upgraded audio option? One wire shows 12v with the car on while the others don't, possible speaker wires?

As for the rear defroster.... the fuse is fine. On the rear window there are 3 connectors to the window defrosters. The one on the left shows 12v when the defroster button is pushed, but the two on the right do not show anything. Any idea?

Yes, and actually it comes on with the key NOT in the ignition too.

While you have your interior ripped apart, you should address some of the rust you have going there, before it makes its way to the outside.....
