I bought a 90 eclipse GSX for 2500...dont know what i was thinkin at the time, but the engine makes a wierd sound when driving. like a tapping when im boosting...whats this noise?

another question. when i was driving today. i was boosting, when i stopped, noticed oil came out from the bolts on my head. bad gasket? bad bolts?

another question. theres an exhaust leak with the flange between the downpipe and the cat. what the best way to fix it? buy new cat and downpipe? just a new cat? or just a new downpipe?dont know which one to do. and if i choose to replace it should i go 3" downpipe and 3" hi-flow cat? i have the stock turbo so would it be wise to go with 2.5" piping or 3"?

how to remove stripped lug nut? the mechanic said it wont come out at all and if he tried to remove it, he thinks it might warp the wheel or something..what should be done?

parking brake doesnt work. it pulls up and has tension but just doesnt stop the car from rolling. the mechanic checked it out and the said the cables are stretched and the calipers might bad. what should i check or do first?

any advice would help. please. i know this is alot of stuff but im willing to fix this stuff just need to know what to do and buy before i start pissing money away when i could have been doing something else to save the money.

What bolts is the oil coming out of. Sounds to me like you have either a bad valve cover gasket or a cracked valve cover. Not quite sure where the oils coming from though.

As far as the DP and cat go. Again sounds to me like a gasket. Unbolt the cat from the DP and see if there is a gasket installed. Maybe it's bad or missing.

You can change the parking brake cable. Make sure its connected to the rear brakes. They can stretch and should be replaced if necessary.

Have you tried an impact gun on the wheel lug. If that doesnt work you may need to break it and buy some new studs. It shouldnt warp the wheel if you do it correctly. Actually it shouldnt warp the wheel period.

The tapping noise coming from the engine can be many things. It's really hard to determine over the net not knowing exactly what the sound sound's like.
 
actually the oil is coming from the bolts holding down the valve cover.

the downpipe and cat flange i was told that it was bad...i dont know im going to get more information tomorrow.

it only makes the tapping noice about 4500 rpms. when im boosting. its wierd...it didnt make that noice when i bought it two days ago.

well im going to try and get the parking brake fixed and the exhaust leak fixed. then get it registered then im going to replace all the fluids, belts, spark plugs, and wires. then see whats happening with it.
 
Yeah, sounds to me like you need to replace your valve cover gasket. You should be able to get it for under 20 bucks. I would definelty recommend changing all the belts, hoses and fluids when you buy a new used vehicle.
