To start off I have searched this topic and have found plenty of advice, but my situation is a little different. I know the stock oil pressure gauge is not accurate, I have a electric gauge just have been lazy lately so its not installed yet. I have recently upgraded my turbo to evo 3 16g so the turbo has zero shaft play. Before the upgrade my stock gauge would read max pressure at wot. Now at wot, half is all I can get, and I hear a whine. I have read in another tread that this could be the oil pump on its way out. I know its not turbo whine, just completed several boost leak tests and turbo had no shaft play. The car uses about 1/4 qt. of oil in between 3,000 mile changes, mostly due in part of a very small leak at the oil line that comes off the filter housing. So does this sound like a pump problem? Surely the VERY small leak wouldn't cause that much lower pressure? There is no oil light so I figure I am safe, but I am picky and would rather change the pump before problems if that is a problem. Sorry so long, just trying to be specific. Thanks for your help.

The new turbo should not have any affect on oil pressure. Chances are its just a odd coincidence that your oil pump seems to be going out right after you installed a new turbo. How many miles on your car? While your there replacing the oil pump might as well do timing belt, tensioner if they werent done recently, and the water pump to be on the safe side.

Just to update, I installed my electric oil pressure gauge. With the help that I found on these forums!! I did the tee method, so I could retain my stock sender. Its running about 20 at idle and around 85/90 at 65mph. I figure this is pretty much where its supposed to be. If not someone let me know. Thanks for the help!
