I drive a 95 talon tsi awd. It has hard pipes, ground wires, intake, and a bottom end built with aftermarket rods and pistons (i forget which ones). I was driving on the interstate on cruise control at 80 mph then my car cut out on me and stopped accelerating. I pulled off on the side of the road checked for loose vaccuum lines but didn't see anything. Got back in the car started it up and started driving again but now i couldn't accelerate past 2000 rpms in any gear and i topped out at 45 mph. Also i noticed that my boost gauge wasn't pulling as much vaccuum as before (-15 or so before, now -5 or less). I have no idea what to check i've only had the car for 2 weeks and don't know what else to look for.

Was there black smoke coming out of the exhaust? If so, check your intercooler piping. You more than likely just have a coupler that came off. Heres a link on how to make a tester --> http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html
It will help you find any leak in your piping if you cant find anything visually wrong. If you can provide more detail on how your car was acting, that would be very helpful.

If it's an automatic, my old eclipse, 99 GS, the shift sensors went out and i couldnt get out of 1st gear. Wouldnt rev high or go past a certain mph.

i would have to agree with BlueTurboSpyder its gotta be an intercooler pipe that poped off my car has done the same thing several times but there wasent always black smoke but i would never be able to go above 45mph and i wouldnt be able to go above 2000rpm
