I was racing my car at the track and think I spun a rod bearing and on the way home it died and I could not get it restarted it would crank and kind of sputter and that was it. Now if you let it sit over night it will start and then die amediatly and then it will crank but no sputter or anything. It acts like the fuel filter is clogged or somthing. I am trying to get it running so I can diagnose the knock issue but it is impossible when it only runs for a second.

Just curious what the knocking noise was though. Surely if it was my valves tapping the pistons it would not check good compression and it does. It is lower but still good. lowest was 155 with a low battery and cold motor. They were all 195. I will check the timing marks tomarrow and let you know. It looks like the timming is at most 1 tooth off but, it is hard to look inside the timming belt cover.

It looks like the timming is at most 1 tooth off but, it is hard to look inside the timing belt cover to see for sure however it still could not be more than 1 tooth off and the timing belt is still really tight. It still does the stalling thing right after starting it and it has me convinced that it is indeed rod knock.

Check your ECU. If it smells like rotten seafood, there is your culprit. My car was doing the exact same thing. It would start, sputter, and then die. Check that ECU and let us know. Just take it out open it up and stick your beak in there and see what it smells like.

I had the same kind of issue similar. Well try opening and see if you have a blown engine fuse. Turns out mine blew and then i kept replacing but everytime i started the car it blew. I then went to drastic measures and made my own ghetto fuse the car started but caught on fire! by this I mean the O2 sensor in the headers caught on fire so then after the small fire was put out I disconnected my O2 sesonr and it started right up with out blowing any more of my fuses. Just later on I finaly bought it a new O2 sensor. Turns out when I replaced my headers i got some wd40 fluid in the sensor. Lesson learned.

I have a feeling it is the computer also but, it does not really matter right now because of the spun rod bearing. My awd did almost the exact same thing exept it would not turn over and if you let it sit over night it would start the next day. I sent it out and the acid ate through the fuel pump trace, iac and other things. So, I checked it when it was installed 3k ago and it was fine but, it probably needs caps. Thanks for replies.
