I just got my car put back together. I used a first gen n/t head on my turbo block. I was just wondering if this could have any ill effects on my motor. would this change my reading for vacuum and compression. I ask because now my motor is blowing oil from the dipstick tube and i'm on my second alternater:( . the car runs and boost fine, no smoking, compression numbers were 160-165-165-165 (obviously not exact numbers) soo i didnt think it was my rings. But now that I mention it after searching for the last hour i did come across a few post talkin about old dipsticks and changing the pcv valves. mine are pretty old. could my dipstick just be crap. Sorry for stuffing so much crap in here. By the way, i am 100% stock at the moment. not sure if shes ready or upgrades yet :nono: .

P.S. I actually watched my alternater short out tonight. It was pretty cool for a few seconds until i came to my senses and cut the car off :thumb:

naw a n/t head is the same as the turbo head but the cams are different. If your using the n/t cams it wont make much difference at all. I got a n/t head on my car and I am using the n/t cams and I don/t notice any difference from the cams at all. I'm sure I loose some power but enough to notice it.

If your blowing oil from your dipstick you should check your pcv valve, if its not functioning correctly the pressure will build up in your crankcase and find it's way out somewhere else like the dipstick bringing oil with it.

ok.... well i love my car so much and I'm so bored that i went out there at 4:50 in the morning to chec on a few things. First thing I noticed is that when i unhook the hose from the intake and blow into the valve cover it pressurises and when i stop blowing it is forced back out. under closer observation I noticed that when i blow in I can actually hear the air escaping through the top of the dipstick. So is something seriously wrong here or is my dipstick just a piece of shyt?

Also if anyone can answer this for me. Do i need to buy another alternator for a turbo car. I heard the difference was the amp raing or something

I know this is waaaay old, but since there was never a reply i am going to for future reference in case anyone else has a problem and finds this.

If you blow into the larger hose connected to the PCV valve it should close and NO AIR should enter the engine. If you blow air into the PCV valve and it comes out of the dipstick replace it immediately. Your prob not in any immediate danger of harming the engine, but under boost you will be blowing what ever pressure your turbo is at inside of the head, which is bad for many reasons ioncluding blowing out the dipstick and causing a possible oil fire. The PCV valve should let air OUT of it not IN it.
