Since I had the engine rebuilt, my reverse lights will only work sporadically.. normally when I try to hit reverse, but smack against the 'gate' between 4/R. I've since adjusted the shifter cables, but it hasn't helped as much as I'd hope.

Now, about halfway down the reverse 'slot', on the left side you can feel a 'bump' when moving the shifter. Pushing against the 'bump' activates the reverse light sensor, and they turn on. However, when you move past it to fully engage reverse, the bump is left behind and the reverse lights turn off.

I've pulled out the sensor switch and pushed on the ball with my finger, and the reverse lights come on. Similarly, shorting the connector plug makes them come on. So it's a misalignment somewhere. Problem is, I can't figure out where!

Anyone? It's a little thing, but it's aggravating!

Wisemen? Any kind of clue? I've pulled the reverse switch and re-inserted it, then double-checked my shifter cables. Everything seems fine, but the lights only come on halfway down the reverse 'groove', to the left, then shut off again when it fully engages reverse.

This is starting to drive me nuts, as it was perfectly fine before the rebuild. :(
