irst off i have a 2g 98 gst and about 2 months ago i threw a rod out the block it took out my starter. so 2 months go by and i saved up enough money to get a new motor put in and the guy at the shop was like we cant get it started so they checked timing, timing was good and then they changed the crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor, still sounds like its firing wrong like its firing but not at the right time...some times the car almost starts...theres plenty of fuel and theres compression, so then they thought it was my coil on plug setup so they swaped that with the stock coil and still nothing...then they tried changing the power transitor pack and still nothing.....they did tell me that numbers 2&3 on the coil sparked 4 times for every 1 spark on 1&4 im not sure if that is suppose to happen never looked at that before....so now i think they are going to see if its the ecu......if you can help please i would really apprieciate it thanks

all the timing marks line up they just checked my ecu its starts with another eclipse so im not usre whats going on with it....

This might sound simplistic but here it goes.

I had the same issue on my 2.2 cavalier when I for the engine rebuilt to turbo it. The mechanic said everything looked fine and all was in %100 working order but the car won't start..It had spark, it had fuel, it had compression it had it all...

Turns out he had placed the plug wires completely reversed. Put them in the right order and voila car started, spooled and all the fnu stuff of a freshly rebuilt turbo engine...

Just a thought :)

This may be stupid but try exchanging the current fuel in the vehicle with some good ol 91 or 93 depending on wherever you are at. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the fuel tank. I don't know how long your car has been setting but it is gettin got point to try everything so I would recommend to try that. Also, you know about the coolant temperature sensor, I would replace that too. Also, check all your fuses
Other then that if you verified you are getting timing, spark and compression. Then your engine has no choice but to start.

Ok if you're getting 4 sparks for every one on the inside wires that probably means that the high voltage in the wires is crossing into the other wires. Do you have new wires or are you still using the old ones?
