I got my 2.4 in there and want to try to fire it up today..at least crank it over and prime my turbo. It don't want to crank over.Have fully charged battery, alt and starter were fine when started the swap.Positive terminal is on the battery ,negative to the trans and to the battery.little wire on the starter is on. I have extra wire on starter harness but it dont' seem to have anywhere to go.I looked at another 2g starter to make sure and can't fine anything to connect the little wire too.
The car was of course out of coolant and oil ,etc.Does the car have some protection system so it won't crank if the coolant is too low?
I can't think of any other reasons for the starter not to turn over.I don't seem to have any blown fuses. My dash thing does show coolant light and think battery light maybe to.I have other batteries to try but my stereo, lights ,horn, fans etc are all working ok.
Can the battery work all that stuff and still not even be able to make the starter turn over weakly?
I will get whatever it takes to make the car run,new bat or new starter but if its something stupid well want to get my beast up and running today!!

I know you're probably jonesin'..so I'll take a stab at it, but I don't know 2g's that well so bear with me....

Terminals tight?

ALL the fuses checked?

All the grounds attatched?

Lets' check some power.

12v at the starter, big wire from battery, should be there all the time

The surplus wire...does it get 12v with the key in the start position?

The wire presently on starter, does it get 12v as above?

Is the clutch safety switch good to go? It opens when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. Try disconnecting it temporarily and see if you get some starter action...

Does the car have a dormant alarm?
If the power is interupted, many aftermarket alarms won't play nice until they've been reset. One good clue is an led on the dash center or the console somewhere. Another is extra wires attatched to the ignition harness under the dash.

You can eliminate the ignition switch and everything else by directly powering the starter solenoid. Just hook a remote starter button between the positive wire from the battery (big) at the solenoid, to the litttle wire on the solenoid.

MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL

Push the button, and the starter should operate.

If it doesn't, starter is still resting and doesn't want to play. Procure suitable replacement starter and you should be good to go.

If it does spin the motor, you've got some further investigation to perform on the car side of the equation
