Hi,

When you overfill your crank, will the oil pressure light come on because of the increased amount of oil?

I put a thicker viscosity in my car, and I overfilled it, figuring a leak would arise... but luckly no leak. But now the OP light comes on for a tad when I start her up.

Because of high oil pressure?

Check to make sure the oil pressure sending unit wire isn't loose and the connections aren't dirty or corroded. The wire just clips onto the prong on the unit, and is very easy to be loosened and come off. I don't believe that overfilling can cause the light to come on, but I've never overfilled my car enough for it to happen. If nothing else, take the car somewhere like Autozone and have any codes read that might be coming up.

How much overfill are we talking here? What viscosity of oil?
