glovebox locked, cant get it open

well, i opened up my glovebox and locked it with my key, and then i closed it, and well, when trying to open it, i cant get it unlocked, trying to unlock it, all it does is bend my key, and i dont know how to get the glovebox out to get it unlocked. Anybody have any ideas of what i can do to get it to unlock and open. Thanks for any advice

Maybe a locksmith. Call up, or go to, and place that unlocks car doors.

My friend has the same problem. He tried prying it open and broke the glovebox, so don't try that.

Pick the lock with a good set of lock picks. Whatever you do dont put the bent key back in the slot anymore because if it breaks off in there its going to cost you a bunch more to fix than it would have before. Just run up to a locksmith if you dont know how to pick a lock, it will cost about 35$, and dont forget not to lock it again when they pick it for you. If you go up there it might be cheaper. A service call is going to run you 35$ though normally

, all you need is to squirt some wd-40 on the cylinder and run the key in and out of it about 10 times. my ### who is a locksmith told me that 99% of the time, that is the only problem

Yeah thats true. two of my uncles, 2 aunts, and my grandpa are certified locksmiths here in central FL, just forgot about that, didnt cross my mind at the time. Dont use that bent key though, at least go get another one cut before you do it so you dont break it off inside the cylinder. That is like 2 or 3 bucks, which is better than the 35-50$ its going to cost if you break the key inside.

My driver door and trunk did the same thing. WD-40 worked just fine. Give that a try.

Thanks for all the advice guys, i took the advice of trying WD-40, didn't work, i tryed it like tons of times and all it would do is want to bend the key. So, im just going to take the other advice and go to a locksmith or try lock picking it myself, most likely be taking it to a locksmith.

are you trying to open the box with a valet key?

once locked, i think you need the master key to open it.

Yeah only the master ignition key will work. You can try that key in the trunk or hatch lock. If it unlocks that then you have the master not the valet. Try that out, good point could be the wrong key. If that is your problem then you would just need a new ignition master key cut at a locksmith. 2 bucks would be all you are looking at.
