Solved the pedal sticking on the floor problem after 2 weeks.

I bought 5 months ago a 95 MItsu Eclipse GST with 150k on it.
The car turned out to be the worst investment ever, but that's why I actualy want to bring it back to life.
1st thing ...I buy the car from Detroit, and after driving 200 miles doing 70MPH/5th gear on the freeway the engine revved up', and the car was loosing speed. The gears were actualy OUT of the tranny case. Spend $2500+ for tranny+clutch, then after another 500miles the slave cylinder went bad.(NOTE: The clutch pedal was stiking to the floor/changing the slave cyl. solved teh problem.) Last week it happened again, I parked the car and next morning I found the clutch pedal on the floor. So today I chnaged the slave cyl again, but it did not have any effect. A friend said chk for leaks at the master cyl, and inspect your clutch lines from master/slave cyl...NOTHING, everything looks OK.
I just don't know what to do anymore...I have no clutch presure at all...I have to pump it 5times to put it in gear...and when I want to shift again and press the cluch I can't even get it out of gear. I ordered the SS clutch line kit...I'm thinking that will might work.
I don't know what to do anymore...the throwout bering was inspected and was lookin' good when i installed the new tranny.
Also my engine is SHOUTING " REBUILD ME", all quotes here in N Michigan are over $1500
just labor.
I'm a I.T guy not a great mechanic but I need all the advice and help posible from you guys, the PROs that own DSMs for a long time. My dream right now is to have the car going on the road..maybe latter mooded, so all the advice is really apreciated. Is also anybody in MI that is willing to help me with the rebuild??
Thank you very much,
PS: I also know somebody from a local junkyard who's parting out a 92 or 93 AWD Talon, so if anybody needs an engine/tranny/etc...I can hook you up with it. I have a remanufactured AWD Talon ECU that I want to get rid of.

Respect,

Are there any other symptoms, like perhaps a ticking or clicking near your timing belt?

Does the clutch stick to the floor during turns...?

:(

When you checked the master cylinder, did you inspect the fork? It could be bent or damaged, which could cause what you're describing.
Or you could still have air in the system, causing the clutch pedal to stick to the floor.
OR it could be a clutch going out on you.

Edit: If that buddy of yours is parting out a 92 with a 6 bolt motor, I would look into getting that, if I were you. Search around a bit and you'll find out some of the advantages of swapping a 6bolt 1g motor into a 2g (especially with....er...........an engine that needs to be rebuilt.).

One more thing, and this is just to eliminate a potentially bad possibility once and for all....

Get under the car and locate your crank pulley (also known as Harmonic Balancer). Have a friend get in the car and push the clutch in. Can you move the pulley in and out?
I hope not.

Also, a compression and leakdown test would be beneficial at this point.

What is the problem if the HB pulley can move in and out? Or what does that mean for the engine. I don't have the problem, but I want to know for future reference.

That would indicate a nasty little problem known as CrankWalk

:notgood:

Symptoms include ticking from timing belt area, inconsistent clutch pedal pressure, clutch sticking to floor (especially during left turns), fluctuating rpms as clutch is depressed, and stalling, among other things.

All that said, crankwalk isn't as HUGE an issue as people make it. I don't want to sensationalize anything, or raise any unfounded fears of crankwalk, which is why I didn't mention it by name at first, as it's kind of a "hot button issue". Lots of 2g engines face Crankwalk, but MOST do not. It's just something to be on the lookout for.

Ok just got back from a 4 mile trip.
VERRRRYYYY BADDDDDD ONE!
The car was acting even more weird:
1.The idle was like 400rpm???and it has like a vibration that goes away when u hit 1k rpm;
2.I press the clutch 1st won't go into gear(little resistance at all), press the clutch 3 more times..won't go to 1st will go hard in 2nd(it build a little resistance now).
So I start driving in 2nd....push the clutch in...want to put in 3rd won't go...so I have to put it in neutral and mash it 3,4 times till I can put it again in gear.
I'm sure I don't have air in the system because I bled the system like 2-3 times.
I didn't chk the fork yet...and the clutch was replaced not to long ago+I never drove the car hard. It just that I don't have presure in the hydraulic system...and I gotta mash that supid thing forever.
Another thing....like I shift from 3rd to 4th at low rpms <2000 and then I mash it in 4th...the car seems like it wants to choke, then by 3k rpms the turbo spools up very quick and at one point I feel like I lose complete power for 0.5 seconds and then 'the power' comes back on. (" it's like u're doing 100mph, flip the switch and drop to 10MPH, flip the swith and go back in less then a second to 100MPH")
The whoel thing might sound funny...but I'm really good feeling the cars 'behaviour', and I know something is not good.
Also I've read the topic 'car stalls during driving hard or idilling'. It does it 2 me also. I don't have a fix but I know the cause:1.when I turn the brights on' and if I put the car in N before a stop, it always stalls unless I give it some gas before I come to a complete stop.
2.when I drive it hard then i put in N it stalls...my BOV is the fault because it's installed funny, to make a High pitch noise.
Anyway...my friend tested the car for crankwalk when i bought it and said I'm ok.
Abt the 1g engine...I know a 1G block+2G head is a good combination, but I don't have a garage anymore+ not the required experience yet to do it.
PS:Nope the clutch doesn't stick to the floor when I drive, it sticks all the time!

Only things i can think of are:

-master cylinder
-slave cylinder
-pedal assembly (most likely not; more common on 1gs)
-A hole in your clutch line...didn't catch this when i read but how is the cluch fluid?

olmytsi slave cyl changed 2 days ago...same thing...very little improvement, master cyl never changed by me BUT the small rubber hose from the master cyl reservoir to the master cyl is wet at the reservoir end, but not really visible fluid loss at all.
The pedal assembly can't be the problem because once I get the car going and shifting ,it works perfect. A hole in the clutch line....hmm...good point...the thing is that my clutch line broke when I installed the new tranny..so I cut it and put fittings to reconected it. Well since it is by the slave cyl and here is snowing most of the time the line was pretty wet, and I couldn't tell if it's leaking or not, BUT I had my wife prime the clutch while I was under the car inspecting it....and it SEEMS FINE!!(Just in case I ordered the SS clutch line kit) so by monday I should have it in.
It's really weird....if that doesn't fix the problem then I'll change the master cyl with a new one...and if that doesn't fix it...I'll POST A VID WITH MY CAR IN FLAMES :) J/K "when I get angry I smash CDs" LOL j/k
thanks for the heads UP'

PS: Any idea about the short power loss that I was discussing earlier??
My theory is.. maybe since the clutch doesn't engage all the way it slips at one point at wot?
Any other ideas??

Like the guy above me said, let's take it one step at at time.

But what did you mean the BOV was "installed funny". That might be a problem right there. Install it how its supposed to be installed to eliminate any potential boost leaks.

If the clutch was slipping the revs would shoot up and drop back down when it caught, highly unlikely.

Just out of curiousity, WHY are you still driving this car around?

Ok , so the master cylinder finally took a dump.
Yesterday I inspected the firewall zone behind the clutch pedal ass. , and NO leaks+reservoir full!
This evening I went out to get a magasine out of the car, and I notice hydraulic fluid on the floor mat. :)...so when I order the master cyl, I'll have a full brand spankin' new drivetrain. Huh..can't wait to throw the red SS clutch lines on monday.

Thats weird about the on off switch thing with power you were talking about, I'm having the same problem- when I give it wot to spool up, it will spool but not go anywhere and then all of a sudden it will hit power and then die off and it is completely random like that.

that my friend is phantom knock. your ecu is pulling timing.

I was just thinking something like that.. I mean with THAT many wierd random problems it's usually something electronic..
