OK, after a night of help from luv2ralye, i got all the wiring re-situated in my car. I actually took it for a drive and everything was perfect, except the speedo still dosen't work.

New Sensor, gear, and clip. As every other problem in the car, i am assuming it is wiring. I checked the black/white wire, and no power. Fiquring this is the problem, i start trying to trace the wire. About 2 seconds later, i find a black/white wire that has a 1 wire connecter on the end. It is not attached to anything. Using a multimeter set to ohms, i tested from this wire to the power pin on the speedo sensor blug, and got .01 ohms. Figuring this was the other end of the wire, i tapped it into the power wire of the 2 wire temp sensor. I checked it and it was at 5volts key on.

When i try to go for a test drive, i key the car, it sputters and dies. i key it again and it starts, but runs very rough. I tap the gas and it dies. After doing this about 5 times, i try un plugging the speedo sensor. Same thing. I cut the wire where i tapped it in, and its back to normal.

Can anybody tell me what i did, and what i should do? I really need to get this fixed because i have a shutterbox ecu, and the rev-limmiter under 5000rpm is really annoying. Needs speedo input to clear!

Thanks

Hello again. First of all the 16ga. B/W wire on the VSS should go to +12V thru the ignition switch. It also goes to the ignition system (coil power) so if it's not connected properly the engine is going to have a heck of a time trying to run. You say you connected it to the power wire of the 2 wire temp sensor (I assume the B/W wire). Well this is actually a signal/power wire which is pulled up to +5V thru a resistor inside the ECU. So this is not a power wire at all as well as it's not even +12V! Your result is completely predictable. So connect that speedo sensor B/W to a +12V power source that is present when the ignition key is on (eg. coil or fuel pump relay), the black wire to ground, and the yellow should end up going to a yellow/white on the speedometer.

ahh, that makes sense. Ill give it a try and let ya know. Thanks again
