I am having a HUGE problem with my 1991 Eagle Talon n/t. I recently discovered a fuel leak comming from a seal behind the gas tank and took it in to be serviced. My mechanic proceeded to tell me that the tank was starting to rust out and would be easier to replace the whole tank. As upset as I was...I told him to proceed with the work. The next day I went to call and check up on the progress when I was informed that finding even a used tank was proving to be difficult. He told me that he put me on some sort of national registry because this tank is supposidly so hard to find. I'm very upset and miss driving my car alot. Can anyone help me with locating some sort of replacement or a way to repair the old one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure he knows that a Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymoth Laser are the same as Eagle Talon. As LONG AS ITS FWD& 1G (& probably n/t, but i cant be to sure on that) it should fit. The gas tank in my 91 Eagle Talon is from a 92 Plymoth laser. (both FWD & the laser might of been n/t, but i'm not sure)

Before you do that, Take a look at the fuel line. The fuel lines are VERY VERY VERY VERY hard to losen. whoever took it out if they used a normal wrench probably destoryed it trying to get it out. If he destoryed it going out, then he probably wouldn't be able to fully tighten it going back it. This has happened a few times before.

Remove the carpert and spare tire from the trunk, remove the brass beam from the left side (drive-side). You will see a black plate with a harness coming out of it. Unscrew it without disconneting the harness. Start the car, you should be able to see wether or not if that fuel line is leaking at the eye-bolt.

Black Plate.
