Calgary,
Well first off, my car is stock.

Recently I snapped, damaged or otherwise rendered my shift linkage useless. In any case, I ordered a "definatly price padded" replacement from those friendly guys in BC.

The part arrives, and I do the replacement. When I pulled the cables i had to disconnect the wire harness (plugs on the transmission side), the intake + maf and the hoses.

I put everything together, but theres one plug i found that didnt have a home. And one plug on the transmission that didnt have a wire for it. Perhaps this has something to do with my issue.

right now, the car wont start. The lights come on, and I turn the key. Nothing. No trying to turn, no nothing. When you turn the key it makes a little humming noise, but I think thats the fuel pump.

Console lights come up, headlights will turn on, battery is good.

I assume its just some stupid plug not in properly, but I cant find anything loose other than these two. A DSM guy I know said not to worry, that shouldnt cause the car to not evne want to turn over.

What have I done wrong here?! It has to be something stupid.

Here's a picture of the plugs. Thanks in advance!

do the lights dim or go off when u try to start it, that happened to me with brand new connectors check that the connectors are clean as well as the ground and not lose, wiggle the wires around while someone is trying to start it it might be a connection. If it isnt taht then it is your starter check the main fuses on the (+) cabel, could be a connection at the back of the starter or the unit itself. the small connectors would not prevent your car from strting but you might want to plug in the tranny harness. hope this helped

cheers,
marshall

alright I'll have another looky see. I'm willing to bet you're right about the fuse.

Nothing else makes much sense at this point

The head lights click off when I try to turn the key to start. Thats about all.

well if the headlights turn off when you go to start your car then it is battery related. Check your post connections, grounds, and connections going to the starter.

Neutral safety switch in the transmission can cause it. Get a voltmeter and check the 2 starter posts. Crank over and if the little one does not show battery voltage, then it's an interruptor problem. You can get a schematic from most any owners manual. However if you are ever serious, get a factory manual. Much more detail.

If you don't see the obvious, you will need to pin test from the starter back following your schematic like a roadmap back to the battery. Somehere you will definitely hit something that isn't right.

Not to seem vague, but electrical does not always lend itself to be obvious.
