I am posting this for a freind, he has a automatic 97 Eclipse GST. When the car is cold, when I put it in reverse, it won't go in til I give it a little gas, then it will jerk it self in. Also shifting from first to secound is fine, but from secound to third it is really rough and feels like it goes in gear, then out of gear, then back in gear. I am wondering if I can put some type of addictive into the transmission fluid that might be able to help fix this? Any chance changing the tranny fluid would help? Any help would be gladly appricated.

Thanks

Yes, changing the tranny fluid helps. Remember there are moving parts in there and a tranny needs a tune-up as well, try adding some Lucas transmission fix if the problem is still remains after a tranny filter and oil change.
