Whats up guys,
I have a 96 Talon tsi fwd turbo, if u look in my profile u can see the mods i have done to the car. I have owned a couple of 1st gens and this is my first turbo 2nd gen. Unfortunatly it has the infimous 7bolt but i recently changed the cam angle sensor to a 6bolt so i can do the swap. Here is my question,, I recently blew up the stock t-25 due to running 20psi, even though the turbo is only good to about 16-18 i think? Well when it blew it just made noises n stuff n then started to smoke since the oil seal went in the turbo. So i took the oil lines off the turbo and pluged them so it wouldn't smoke. I needed to get to work and i dont have the funds for another turbo since its christmas and all of that. When i took the oil lines off it stopped smoking, i have 610denso injectors in the car and i used my safc2 and put all the fuel settings back to zero. Well i drove the car like this for about 2 days and it started smoking realllllly bad, like my headgasket blew. I figured the coolant lines blew in the turbo also so i took the coolant lins off. I let the car idle for a little to try and get the oil/water to burn outa my exhaust and as soon as i steped on the gas it still smoked like it was its job!! I checked my oil to see if it was milky but its not and i keep loosing coolant from my radiator?? Are there any other ways of blowing a headgasket without actually mixing oil with coolant?? Also if any other reasons for the car to smoke this bad ? if anyone has any imput please help me out, I know im an idiot for driving the car without a turbo but i had no choice. Thanks for the space guys,

youre driving the car with oil and coolant lines off the turbo?

that in itself will cause huge problems. the turbo needs oil to work, whether it was smoking or not, you need the oil lines connected, or the turbo will sieze up very soon and you wont be able to drive the car at all.

when you took the water lines off, did you loop them or what?

you tune the afc to compensate for bigger injectors, so when you zeroed it out, it is running rediculously rich. this could be a reason for the smoking.

what color smoke is it? youre losing coolant from your radiator, so im guessing you'll be getting some white smoke.

if youre worried about engine damage (like a hg), do a compression test, as well as a leakdown test.

hopefully its not a hg.

Wait, wait, wait. You're just asking for trouble. The turbo is blown, the oil lines are plugged, and the coolant lines are disconnected?! WTF Where did you get the idea to just start disconnecting things? If your motor stops running next, are you gonna take off the fuel lines? You need to go to a junkyard and buy a T-25 from a wrecked DSM. If you keep trying to drive the car like it is, you're asking for more problems than just a blown turbo.

Yea i took the lines off the turbo after it blew, i just checked my coolant and it is loosing some of it. I dont drive the car it is parked and the reason i put the safc2 back to zero is because i had it tuned to run 20psi and i thought it would be getting tooo much fuel so i set it back to zero to try and compansate for no boost. like i said i needed to go to work and had no other option, and if ne1 knows where i can get a cheap t-25 let me know please. I also hav a 2g install kit so if ne1 knows about a cheap 14b let me know also. but this still doesnt answer my question.. Is there ne other way a headgasket can blow besides makink the oil milky??

the smoke color is thick white like when a headgasket goes, but like i said my oil is not milky

Yes, the oil doesnt have to mix with the coolant when a hg goes. since its white smoke, its burning coolant/water.

when you use an afc, youre compensating for injector size, not the amount of boost, or turbo size. if youre still going to drive it, put the settings you had for your injectors back in the afc.

DO A COMPRESSION TEST and a leakdown test. this will tell you if you have a blown hg.

i know what a safc is used for aparently thats why i got one and no im not driving the car nemore it is parked till i get another turbo to put on it, i checked the compression and its 155/160 across the board, so im confused, it migh just be something stupid i'll find out after i put another turbo on it??
