I have an AWD 98 Talon, and the lower ball joint blew out last night so the tire is at an angle. Here's the problem. How do I get that towed?
A) Wheel lift + dollys
B) Flatbed (just drag it up)
C) Flatbed (take the tire off and slide it on the control arm)

Which way would be best? I'm not sure A is even an option since I only found 1 company with a wheel lift and dollys that can do it today and he towed the car last night like that and he doesn't want to do it again (he mentioned because the car barely fit in the wheel lift).

So, how the hell am I going to get this thing towed without doing more damage??

the damage is already dun for the most part....ive towed enough dsms...just get a comealong or winch and pull it to a flat bed...thats wut i would do :talon:

Have you ever pulled a DSM with a blown lower ball joint onto a flatbed? Not only would the fender get torn up worse, but the tire would as well. Not to mention anything else that could/might get damaged from forcing a car to roll when the wheel is at a 45 degree angle.

I just really don't see how more damage WOULDN'T be caused.

I've heard the best way to do it is to take the tire off and slide it up the flat bed resting on the control arm. You have to do it on a steel flat bed, and not an aluminum one, though, because the aluminum flat bed would be damaged. Although I SERIOUSLY doubt my car would make it onto a flat bed with a tire off. It barely makes it on with the tire ON. I can't even get a jack under it as it is right now, with the ball joint blown out. I'm really thinking I'll have to do a wheel lift with dollys, although I'm going to be charged out the ass for something like that. :notgood:

Towing a car should NOT be this difficult.

Haha I know your pain in towing your DSM, I got my car towed a few days ago and the guy was complaining in spanish most of the time.

Is there any way you could lift up the back end, then get a smaller jack under the front tire and lift it up that way? I'm sort of in the same boat as you right now, I can't fit any jacks under my car. I may be in Colorado Springs pretty soon, if you still need some help I'd be willing to help out.
