my alternator died recently, so i drove it into to work by charging the battery every few minutes, my mechanic at work looked at all the wiring and tested my battery and alternator, he said my alternator is dead. so i came in the next day and he had unhooked the wires for me, and instructed me on how to take off the alternator, so i got it off had a autostore deliver one to me, and i put it back on. i drove it home just fine. i started up my car a little while later and i heard the belt screeching, so i tightened it up a bit, and the screeching went away. i got back in the car and i see the battery light is on. so i look around and the 80amp fuse for the alternator is blown. today i went and got another fuse, put it in, right as i hooked up the negative terminal, it sparked and the fuse blew. I had also noticed that when i was at work and put the negative terminal on it sparked, but i did not check the fuse.

since i did not unhook the wiring i am unsure of which is the ground on the alternator?

is it the bolt on the bottom left, or the shinier bolt on the right. on my old alternator the bolt on the bottom left was loose, and the shinny one was tight. Not knowing i hooked it up to the shinny one when i put the new alternator on. Does anyone know for sure?

thanks in advanced

There really isn't any ground connection for this alternator. That shiny bolt is the B+ terminal, which connects to the positive terminal of the battery through the 80A fuse. Don't connect a ground to that, or you'll pop that fuse.

There is only two connections to make on this alternator. The big connector, which is a no-brainer, and the B+ connection which is that thick wire that is on the same harness.

There is also two fuses you need to check, the 80-amp fuse, and a 30-amp fuse that's labeled IGN near the battery.

ok so i have the big plug and the other connecter that has teh hole in it for the bolt to go threw, where does the connecter with the hole in it go?

Take all the wiring around the alternator and tape the shit out of it. Then tape up your O2 sensor wires. Trust me.
