When I start up my car it revs up to its usuall then goes all the way back down, and shuts off. So my solution to the probelm is to keep the throttle down steady above the 1k, hold it down for a good 5sec, then it surges on itself, surges up about from 1k to 1.5k then after that I move my foot from the pedal, and it idles regularly. Also a weird noise is coming from my belt area, like its not tight all the way but theirs no free play, or wobbling. Its not a squeak more of a knock. Went to autozone yesterday and they told me I had 2check engine lights:

1: egr vavle
2: idle control

Does this count for the probelms? How much are the probelms going to run me?

also the car is a automatic. and has about 116,xxx miles on it.

Does infact sound like a bad ISC (Idle speed control). Check out this: http://dmtalon.v8eaters.com/ISC.html to test your ISC. I know my jetta needs a new one (the VW equivilant of an ISC, its not called an ISC in that car) and does the same annoying thing, I hate it :D. Not sure about the EGR thing, but I wouldn't worry too much about that until you fix the idle problem and noisy belt problem.
