OK my car builds pressure in the rad hose and it doesn't get to hard. But after i turn the car off after running it for say 20 miles and let it sit i will come back in an hour and check on it and my hose is sucked in .. Like if you squeeze your hose as hard as you can it looks like that.. my tstat is fine and i have no overheating issues. any ideas? Someone told me my hose just might be shot.. i have no idea what that means but he said go buy a new hose and if it still does it that means your radiator is messed up?

My gsx does that also, it also expands more then it should when it is hot. I am planing on replacing both radiator hoses shortly. I also had one of the throttle body hoses burst on me. I would recommend checking on all of the coolant lines and consider replacing them if they feel "mushy or spongy", the system is drained anyway. They are a bit of a pain to replace but its not impossible.

If they're the original hoses then its about time to replace them, they really aren't that expensive anyway. I also put a new cap on in case the old one was not allowing coolant to return from the overflow tank however the hose still collapsed.

Check out Mentor Mitsubishi, they have some of the best OEM prices I have found and they have very good service.

It's the sign of an old radiator hose like mujgy said. Replace them.
Good post mujgy.

North Dakota huh?

I have also seen that before on a couple of cars that had a slightly blown head gasket. I would try a block test just make sure. If it is also a head gasket, replace the rubber hoses as well.

Reving an old thread from the dead here.

I just noticed my car is doing the same. It seems to build a little too much pressure in the hoses upon running, and after cooldown, the hoses are "sucked in". Pop the cap, and you can here air sucking back in, thus returning the hoses to the normal state.

On my car, every single hose is new, along with a new 180* tstat, water pump, and new last year 16 psi rad cap.

Since everything is new(er), what else could be pointing in the lines of?

Heres something though. I run a Mitsu MLS HG along w/ ARP's torqued to 95 ft. lbs, NO orings, etc, and after 5-6 hard runs/pulls of 32psi and flowing 63 lbs/min, it WILL push a little coolant. I'm ok with this. I've seen a lot of higher psi cars do this. It does not push any coolant on one hard run or while crusing, etc.

Thanks, Dan
