Ok, i searched around a bit.. and haven't seen anything like this.
i have a 95 eclipse RS with header, Intake, muffler, and i have been told the head was port and polished.. i didn't have it done. it was done before i bought it.
to the problem..
in the mornings when i start my car up,(Late fall and winter) it starts normal, then idle goes up to like 1500, and slowly falls down, drops to like 700 and my engine sounds like it chokes out.. it doesn't stall, but my engine sounds starved for something. normally the intake sounds a little hollow, but this is extremely bad. i also just noticed on my A/F gauge (i know, not accurate) that when it sounds starved, it shows extremely lean.. because normally its at least near the green end.. after it does this for a few seconds.. the engine raises the RPM's up around 15 again.. and slowly falls down to normal range. on a very cold day, it might do this a few times, on warmer ones.. only once or twice. also.. when i reverse out of my carport... it just about stalls out but doesn't.. unless i let the car warm up for at least 10 minutes.
I often use Lucas and Seafoam and run Val. Max Life, engine With 11400 on it
2 or 3 ideas i have for this.. confirm or explain why i am wrong.. i don't mind
Bad fuel pump? (bad mileage around 18mpg)
Clogged Fuel filter (car is kinda laggy in response)
Timing off? (very rough idle.. almost like i have Cam Gears)
I have a engine that hates cold air?? (is that even possible)
Not sparkplugs ( i just changed them and it did this before and after)
Thank you for all your input.. any ideas you have a much needed
