ok , so yesterday i decided to run open downpipe , car ran great all day long , boosted perfectly ! i havent had one problem with this car since i got it. i had the mbc set to 15psi like usual on 91 octane and ran great all day , so i was a block away from home and all of a sudden the car felt like it was misfiring, so i thought ok , a plug wire must have came loose, pulled over and nope , but the top screw of the mbc was missing , as well as the ball and spring ,( its came loose before ) and im pretty sure i never over boosted it all night long( cuz if no vaccum pressure is going to the wastegate it wont open and let exhaust out right ? ), as i watched the gauge closely like usual.......

so , when i rev it in neutral , instead of vaccum going up, it goes up a lil then goes back down , when i drive , it goes to a lil above 0psi and thats it. i dont hear the turbo spooling whatso ever , i checked the turbo , and non shaft play and spun freely , im not blowing white smoke at all...... or any smoke for that matter, i went and re-hooked up the vaccum line for boost control to the stock way.......... still nothing. i checked the plugs to see if maybe they had oil on em, nothing , checked the uppipe , and no oil at all either in the pipe looked very clean in the throttle body.

so now im stumped. i got this car from an older woman, in perfect shape , and in stock form.

i really have no other means of transportation , and im currently outta work so a new 16g turbo is outta the question...... for the time being.

Check and make sure the wg actuator rod hasnt come loose from the wg flapper.

checked that 1st actually moves freely , i hooked up my air compressor tool to it , shot air in the hose, and it opened and closed smoothly , and yes ive searched around.

Do you mean by hand with the actuator arm attached?

i hooked up my air compressor tool to it , shot air in the hose, and it opened and closed smoothly
At what psi does it open?

What have you done about the mbc? Perform a leak test.

no , only by the compressor did i check it , i tried to move it with my hand but it didnt move at all , but the second i put pressure through the hose on it , went right open , let off the air and closed fine.

so the leak test is gonna happen tommarow....... we'll see what happens, its gotta be a stuck BOV or intercooler hose popped off ( didnt get to check that , checked engine bay ones tho they were fine )

so making no boost its got to be atleast as big as an IC pipe off .......

but im thinking the turbo might be bad even tho i hate to say it, beacuse im hearing no spooling whatsoever ........

Remove the intake pipe and see if you can spin the compressor wheel by hand. I have seen one time when part of the divider in the exhaust manifold broke off and wedged itself in the turbine wheel. It didnt do any damage, just kept the turbo from spooling. Once the debris was removed, the turbo worked fine.

spins fine, and all IC hoses are on tight as well as all vaccum hoses.

im seriously lost on this.

A boost leak test will tell all. What have you done about your MBC?

I sound like oldman....

the first post tells that i re-routed the line to stock form, but still nothing......... so theres no boost controller on there whatso ever , but would even a lil boost leak cause no boost ??

i didnt hear any pops or anything, it just felt like the car was misfiring when it occured.....

is it possible i could have ####ed my motor up and its not generating enough load to turn the turbo ? even tho i took it to 5k when driving ??

i checked my vaccum lines and everything was fine, but i dont have a boost leak tester , so ill see if one of my buddies has one....

heres a case of a simular problem at work.

the same simptions you have..no boost (on an Opel Astra Turbo)

so,we checked all the electronics,boost leaks,spun the compessor wheel,tested the actuator..etc..everything checkd..

the problem was this: the TURBINE wheel had sheared off as a peice from the manifold got in it somehow.. so basically the fins were off..but if you spun the compressor wheel it all seemed fine.. but the turbine wasnt being driven by the exhaust gases.. OMG thus building no boost.

huh , thats a possibility..........i might just take the turbo off then

but here how i have the wastegate line hooked up , not using the stock solienoid, just a direct line

thanks for all the replies guys !!!

ok , i just went out to the garage, turbine wheel spins, when cars on, i drove it , and smells a lil like oil..........

also the turbine wheel felt like it was pushing out cold air???

drove it about 20miles tonight..........just to see

the safc is showing 500karman@ WOT, when its usally around 1k - 1.5k when i go WOT

so its the turbo guys ??

since a bad head gasket wouldnt cause the engine to not pull in enough air.
