Ladysmith,
Ok, 91 TSi AWD. Car wouldn't start, it was the caps. Got them replaced, they had leaked on the board, lifted a traces, my buddy repaired the trace with a wire and installed the new caps and cleaned the board.
Starts everytime, so that problem is fixed. Before when it wouldn't start, it would turn over, sputter a few times. Then I would turn the key to the off position, wait for the Relay to click off, then the second relay aruond 8 -10 seconds later. Then it would usually fire, then I guess it got bad enough that I just wouldn't fire no matter what I did.
Ok, so now randomly, I'll be going down the road and when I let the throttle drop, it will sometime drop way down to like 500 rpm, the CEL will come on, and during this time I can still rev the engine, but it sounds like its running on 2-3 cylinders (only way I can describe it...like an airy bogging.) I can give it throttle, it struggles, then once it hits like 2-2500 rpms, the CEL goes away and it returns to normal.
No patterns noticed, completely random.
HELP!!!
Thanks,
Wayne
