I fixed the idle surge/hunting on my 1G...

After that, it was still surging, so I played with these lines and found that when I plugged the one furthest from the firewall, the surging went away, and it idled like a new car... well, a new car with lumpy cams

I have no idea what I did, or if I should do it, I just know that it fixed my idle, and the car is running strong as hell..

Argh .. replace those hoses with vacume caps and call it a day as you've just defeated all emmisions controls (except the Cat)

what did I do?!

The one to the "P" port is for the Purge Valve for the charcol canister (captures vapors from the fuel tank). It sounds like you had a leak in that system somewhere too.
