So my car battery died on me, I recharged the battery and tested the alternator. Alternator was no good. Before I could replace the alternator the battery died again, so I went ahead and replaced the alternator. Gave the battery a jump. The car started and idled fine, but when I would put any load on it, the car threw a code and sounded like it was misfiring, then eventually died. So I figured maybe I just needed to recharge the battery(makes no sense I know). I did, and now when I try to start the car it feels like a bad starter. There is one click, and then no power to any of my accessories. Eventually power is restored, and then nothing. Is it possible this is related to my install, or could it be the starter, or something else?

the alternator could be bad underloads due to faulty regulator or diodes, or that battery is putting excessive load on the altenator because of bad cells depending how they failed, once the car is started disconnect the batter and see how it runs. that will tell you if you could have gotten a bad alternator because most parts stores sell prebroken ones to begin with so you don't have to break them

No it ran fine when I disconnected the battery. But I don't understand why the car won't even start off the battery which is fully charged.

the regulator is inside the alternator , and you should make sure its a warrantied part before you buy it , and have them test it infront of you in-store.

if it was bad under load, it prolly didnt have a good enough charge even though the charger said so.

but im thinking , you didnt let the car idle enough to get a good charge in the battery so it could handle the load of the ignition system. let it idle for 15mins , and that should put a good charge on the battery. enough to handle the load.

but you should change your battery and go with an optima anyways.
ive had mine 2yrs , with 1000+watt stereo systems and no problems.

Well thanks for the opinions, but the battery is fully charged. I removed it after the alternator install and took it to autozone to be fully recharged. They returned it to me and said it was good. I reinstalled it, and had the same problem.

AutoZone personnel are FAR from certified mechanics.

Okay, so you put the key in the ignition, turn it, and it clicks once. There is no power to anything, then after a minute power comes on?
If you hold the key in the start position you still only get one click?

use a multimeter and watch the battery voltage when you do this if it goes below 9V the battery is junked

when the key is in the start position it is supposed to kill the power to everything
