I just got my g-tech and I tested my car. It says that my 1/4 mile time is 15.6@@97mph. (average of 4 runs)Can this be right? And, the horsepower reading says I'm only makin 140 hp. Now my car does have some miles on it, but could this really be possible? I put in 3100 as my weight.

Yeah, you're definately right. I just got one because it was 30 bucks and gives me a baseline to see improvements from mods. But still, 15.6@97 just doesn't sound right! Is this just computer error(5 times in a row) or is it actually possible??

The G-tech unit uses force meters to measure acceleration, if the unit was dropped it can knock it out of adjustment. Also not installing the unit properly can result in lower then normal numbers due to the force of acceleration not being inline with the linear force meters.

You didnt say what version it was, the older ones were not very accurate but the new ones are shockingly close.

Well, I have the gtech pro, which is one of the first one's to come out. I guess it's just inaccurate. It said my 0-60 time was about 7 seconds, which I guess would be okay, then it says the 1/4 mile time is 15.6@97 like I said before. What is the best place to mount it? I just placed it in the middle of my windshield. I don't think I really checked to see if it was straight ahead, but it was leveled right.

Throw it away, take your car to a dyno then hit the track. ill never use a gtech after my friend said he runs 14.5 in his stock celica gts

if your car is mostly stock, yes, a 15.6 could be very close. also, the HP reading is Wheel HP, if the car puts out 200 stock, the usual number is 20% drivetrain loss, that puts you at 160hp. like you said, if the car has some miles or isn't running perfect, you may be close. also, your weight could have been off. take it to a truck scale and see what it really weighs with you in it.

i've run 2 different G-Techs at the track, and my friends ran them too. i'd say out of the probably 65-75 runs between us, the G-Tech Pros have been very close 90% of the time. Usually within a 1/10 of a second.

but like mentioned above, you'll never really know unless you get to the track or a dyno

Just an update, I think part of the problem may be my shoddy driving. A little, because I'm starting to get the hang of launching and my best is still only [email protected]. That was a good run too, I launced at 3k with a little wheelspin. I just thought that a stock eclipse could pull of a mid 14 in the 1/4. Even with okay driving, couldn't my car run higher than that?

For those wondering I have a 3" exhaust and intake.

if i'm not mistaken, a 1G turbo runs a low 15 stock, maybe a 14.9 with a good driver. so your low 15 seems right on! now crank the boost a little, practice those FWD launches and shifts, and head to the track!

Hell yeah, I hear ya bro. The only problem is that I've been waiting on my 1G BOV for the past 3 weeks   I even have my MBC unhooked cause there's no use for it without the new BOV. But it's all good cause it should finally be in on Thursday. I'm gonna try around 17 psi and see how my T25 handles it. Can't wait...... :D

you might want to rethink that 17psi on a T25, just my opinion, but 15 should be about your max without decent mods and a WELL built T25, but as you said your car has miles, 17 is probably going to hurt it

Theres a download you can find on the internet that does teh same thing.

About the 17 psi, I checked the shaft play on my turbo and it seems to be just fine. Just a little bit side to side. Plus, I'll be getting a 14b soon. :D

 What exactly are you referring to?

The 1/4 est. machine-thing-a-ma-bob. You put in your hp and est. weight and other stuff and it will give u ur 1/4 time.

Those estimating calculators are not remotely accurate. They don't account for tons of data including the vehicle's drag coefficient, traction capabilities, gearing, shift points, and power curves - not to mention driving skills. The gtech accellerometer type devices are great for takng measurements of real world data and not fantasizing on a web page about what you "should" be able to do.

well idk the thing had gear ratios etc on it, it had like 30 things u can enter to make most accurate. But the machine itself is prob better. I was just saying they had one
