I have searched every thread for starting problems but still no help.
90 Talon TSI bought car missing head up. rebuilt engine replaced missing parts which I bought from here and car won't start. when I try to start it everything just click everytime I try to start. the relay in the fuse box will click before the key reaches the start position then the EFI/MPI relay will click when the key is all the way in the start position. also the relay in the main relay box beside the battery(the fuel pump relay I think) will click and the starter will engage but will not turn the engine over. I can jump the starter and it will turn the engine over but no spark. I do have a new battery and terminals. Since I did not have the head, intake ect I may not have hooked up all of the connectors right. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

When you say "jump the starter" where exactly are you putting the jumper cables? If you're connecting the negative jumper cable to the engine (instead of battery negative terminal) and it turns the engine over, suspect problem with the negative battery cable. Make sure the negative battery cable is good (not worn or cracked) and connected tightly (and clean) to a starter installation bolt. You can verify this by connecting a jumper cable from battery negative terminal to engine frame. If engine now turns over you have a problem with the negative battery cable.

I tryed running cables to the engine for ground. What i mean by jump the starter is I used a remote starter and attaced one lead to the positive side of battery and the other to the starter
when I jump it that way it will turn over but no spark. but it will only engage the starter with the key.

So "only engage the starter with the key" means it engages but then stops - doesn't turn the engine flywheel? If so, then it sounds like a positive cable problem (cracked, poor connection, etc). You can test that by putting a jumper cable across it (battery to starter just like you did with the remote but then try the key).

thanks. I think I found the problem checked all relays they seemed to be good. ran new wire from the starter relay to starter and it will now turn over with the key but still no fire.
