Benefits to studs opposed to bolts

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

The constant heating and cooling stresses the bolt/stud (and can make more brittle) so it would break much easier during disassembly. So a stud which does not have to be unscrewed is the much much better choice (even though it costs more).

makes it easier to put on (ie. you can slide it onto the studs instead of holding it while threading in a bolt). the head is aluminum, so it also lessens the chance of stripping the threads when tightening a bolt.
