medicine hat,
hey defiant, or anyone who knows a lil bit about this stuff. i pulled out my speed sensor cause my trip odometer and speedometer quit working.....its got a gear on the end of it....so my questions is....my gear looks kinda worn out... does anyone know what the part number is, or the EXACT name i should call it when i go into a parts store like napa? also is there a certain way that the sensor should be sitting in there or is it more of an "insert and press down firmly"?

its for my 95 talon tsi awd...not my laser

Ahh, I had the same problem after I bought my 95 gst, give me a half hour at the most and ill have a link to it, i believe that it was around $80.

Alright for some reason it wont give me a direct link so I hope this is good enough:
Go To:
http://www.mitsubishicyberstore.com/
and then:
click on "menu"
and then:
type in "speed sensor" under the 3rd box listed search by keyword
and then:
Under the right one listed mechanical so the 1995 mitsubishi eclipse, and click continue
and then:
Now click on the "add to cart" on the second one down for 2.0L w/turbo
and then:
Pull out the credit card to pay $65.23 + shipping and tax

Sorry about being so thorough on such an easy task, i just wouldn't feel like i helped if i didn't

thanks dude for the link & walkthrough. a few questions though. does this sensor come with the gear on the bottom? i found a sensor at my local napa store but doesnt have the gear.....also when re-installing it is there anything the actually hold the thing down or does it just slide down and lock into place? is there a certain direction to install it?

i think that all the questions i have thanks again for the quick response.

There's a hold-down bolt with a 10mm head. Get the shop manuals while you're at the store.

Look for a small rollpin holding the gear on. I didn't know they left it off the NAPA part, if you got the right part. Sounds fishy, as that's the part that usually wears out. The magnet that works the reed switch seems to be holding its field, despite the planet's changing its own.

If they have just the sensor (which I doubt), then they should carry the gear, too.

thanks, ive got a chiltons manual but it doesnt even mention the speed sensor....i never bought the part because in the pictures she showed me the gear wasnt there but the wiring harness was, and she said that they couldnt get it in either. i thought that it was pretty stupid too....but not much i can do but check that dealer...or order it online. My speed sensor just pulled out, there was no bolt holding it down, thats why i ask.

thanks for getting back to me defiant.

'95 Talon Factory Manual is where most of mine come from. I think I have four or five years of the Talon books, and a couple of the Eclipse. The Talon books go for dirt on eBay. Eclipse books are still expensive.
