 I found oil on my anti freeze and there is an oil leak on the back of the engine. Do you guys think my head gasket is gone or do I have a cracked head? Please help.

That usually means the HG is gone, but the car would be smoking severely. You could have a crack somewhere though.

This could be your problem. It happens when the oil filter gets put on too tight and crushes the inside of the cooler. The oil presssure is higher than the coolant pressure and the oil goes into the coolant.
It happend to me

Sorry just noticed your nt maybe this doesn't apply.

Now! I do not see any white smoke coming out of my exhaust, my oil is clean and my car is not overheating. I was told that when a i get bad head gasket or crack on the head, I was suppose to get the three symptoms “white smoke, oil in antifreeze and antifreeze in oil.” Is it possible to only get one symptom and can you drive the car with oil in the antifreeze? May be is the oil cooler problem it was mentioned before. Crap!!! I have no clue!! Any Ideas!!!

Thank you

Yes it is possible to get only one symptom, also like the other reply said check the oil cooler.GOOD LUCK

Cool!!! I have to say that this site is a great help. I am going to see if I can get the oil cooler from a junk yard and due to my leak on the rear of the engine I will replace the head gasket too. Better to be safe than screwed!!! I will let you guys know how everything goes. Either my car gets well or is a visit to the classifieds again!!!

Thanks

Ok!!! I called two Mitsubishi dealers around my area and they told me that my car is not equipped with this oil cooler. That in these cars is only a three piece part that only costs about 50 dollars all together and they are not even carrying it due to the low maintenance in this specific part. Do you guys think they do not know what they are talking about? Or is it possible that is only my head gasket doing this.

Look At this images there are not coolant lines connected to it. What do you guys think?

So if this happens, could it affect oil pressure at all? Mine seems to be slightly lower at idle these days (of course this is all based off the in dash gauge) and i'm also seeing some symptoms that would lead me to believe i may have um, crushed my oil cooler a bit. :coy:

Actually I think that is great news for me, one less problem to worry about. I guess I have to wait to get the car back from the shop to see if the problem gets fix with the new HG. $ 800.00 dollars Parts and labor. Crap!! I need to become a mechanic or an assistant to one. LOL!

Ok I got my head gasket replace and I do not see any more leaks or antifreeze mixing, but for some reason I think that my fans are coming on more often than before. Is that normal for DSMs ? The car is not overheating but those fans…. May be is just me……

Thanks

It is when the spring's warmer than winter.

Just keep an eye on your gauges and coolant level.

Ok! I flush the radiator, I installed a new thermostat, I have a new 50/50 mixture and I did the so called burp! To get rid of the air bubbles, but my fan is almost on all the times even in this 55 degrees weather. The weird thing is that the temperature gauge is not even reaching the middle mark, is about 1 mark down which for me is excellent and I am happy with that, but I can not stand my fan always on. I just hope that is not my water pump. Do you guys think my fan is going to fail for always been on?

Thank You
