Is it a broken shock ?

Hi, as I was driving last night, I hit a pot hole, and my back shock was making a nasty noise. So I checked it out once I got home, the back shock moves. My question is, is it a broken shock, or is the thingy that holds the shock to the car, ####ed up..

I know it's probably cold outside, but your best bet is to take off the wheel take a look

I just did ... the shock moves, and from the trunk, i checked it out and there rust around and the shock is higher then its supposed to be... So the metal that holds the shock ( i dont know what to call it ) is rusted ... Now the question is h ow can i fix it

Im guessing your strut is shot.

Go to ebay and get a strut off ebay. Like $35
