I am having a wierd electrical prob. with my car, When I open the door there is no open door ligh on the cluster.

when I turn off the car and then open the door the seat belt will not automatically go forward.

I replaced the alternator awhile back with a remanufactured one, could it have gone bad?

the car is not being driven bacuse of suspension problems. Anyone know anything about the electrical problems??? TIA

Have you checked all the fuses? There is actually a fuse that prevents things like your radio, seatbelts, interior lights from working with key off if it is blown.

You don't even have your car model/year listed. Fill out your profile completely before asking questions.

It's unlikely the alternator. Check the switch the door hits when it closes. They tend to get all mocked up or corroded. Take it out, clean it, and put back in. Also make sure the wire connector is still on it ok.

sorry I will fill out my prfile completely.

Another thing is I am under the impression that the car should run (temporary) after started even if the battery is removed because the alternator is holding charge. IS this correct.

If it is then I had the car running and disconnected the postive battery cable and the car would die.

Also my head unit resets and shuts off everytime the car is turned off.

Yep - then your alternator is bad.

okay, I am going to put my two cents in. I have just had the same problem. except I don't have a radio in my car. I am going to point you to a place to check. Check all fuseable links in your engine relay box. Check the alt fuseable link and the bat fuseable link. Mine was missing after the car had set up over a year and when I began to fix the car*from a blown tranny* my bat fuseable link became missing. My Interior lights, map lights, door chime, door light in dash, brake lights, and heater blower would not work. Try that and see what happens

well I found the solution and am supposed to post it so the prob was the Alternator Fuse was toasted. Thanks yall and Duh on my part. :thumb:
