93 ECU in 90 when boost comes on rpms fall

Hello Please help

I switched the wires green to green and white.
When it goes into boost the rpms fall to 0.
i have a 90 awd turbo talon the ecu was out of a 93 turbo awd i think
I think it is the coil pack what do u guys think ?
reads boost on gauge

Is it a non turbo ecu ?

Post the ECU part number.

Beside the tach falling to zero, what does the car do. Are you talking about something more than the well known tach problems when running a non-90 ECU in a '90 car?

I hooked it up to a datalogger and it was pulling timing with no knock.
It feels like a non turbo when on boost.
The ecu looks great.
part# ends with 262
Also when hooked up to datalogger it reads a turbo ecu.
I put in my 90 ecu in last night and it runs great switched the wires back of course.

the 93 is a eprom ecu to so i want to keep it.
eprom chip is 931 i think.

That would be a 91-92 MD166262. In '93 the ECU switched to MD193299 for the Fed MT AWD, MD193295 for the CA MT AWD, MD193297 for the Fed MT FWD, and MD193293 for the CA MT FWD.

If you want to keep that ECU in the car you will either have to live with the tach problem or change out the coil, tach sender (inside the PTM on 91+), power transistor module, noise filter, gauge cluster, and rewire. http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/ecuconversion.html
