I'm trying to install a 16G in my 2G tonight and I broke 2 of the 4 manifold to turbo bolts loose as well as the stud, but I cant for the life of me get this last bolt off, I heated it, hit it, and pbblasted it. I broke 4 sockets on it and it wont move. Any ideas? Also the oil feed line doesnt want to come loose either. Any tricks you guys used, pass em along. Thanks -J

I feel your pain....After one of the bolts rounded off on my snap-on socket I tried the boxend wrench (also a snap-on) with breaker bar method mentioned above. That made sure no handtool would get that bolt off and it even distorted the metal on the boxend wrench. In the end I used a 4" angle grinder and ground the bolt head off and headed inside to get a set of turbo bolts shipped. All them faq's and writeups are right about getting a set of bolts when you do the turbo. Just to add insult to injury a close inspection revealed 3 cracks on the orig mani: one on the #2 runner top side, one on the #3 runner bottom side, and the little divider inside the collector area on mine also had a good sized crack. Back inside to get a manifold enroute. Also plainly evident was the mani to turbo and the turbo to o2 housing gaskets had been leaking.

I had to cut the line and use a socket (19mm IIRC) on the large oil line fitting down there by the filter like the previous poster too.

Thanks for all the input, I got craftsman to replace my 4 broken sockets and I finally got it off with the new ones. Then after another hour playing with that stupid oil feed line I gave in and cut it. Now its onto the good stuff like droping that trash T25 and putting the B16G in its place. :D Any other tricks for the install in general anyone came up with, keep them coming. Thanks for all the help.

my .02.. chuck those bolts you removed and pick up a new set ($20).
Also use a high temp anti-sieze when re-installing and tork to spec.

Nice thing is the next time you upgrade will take you 1/10 the time to remove ;)
