Oil Pressure Sending Unit keeps breaking

Hye guys I have a 95 Talon :talon: with a JDM six bolt swap done to it. The oil pressure sending unit for the gauge mounted right by the filter keeps breaking the nipple off. then all the oil sprays all over everywhere and bad things. Ive had two differnet shops look at it and both just put in a new unit and 30-40 miles later its broken again. any idea as to why? when it runs it runs really friggin hard .. i g-teched it to about 290 to the ground. but desnt run too well with no oil. Also when the unit is running right its showing low pressure. any ideas on that?

You should keep the gorillas from using an impact wrench on it. Only guessing but think the torque is quite low... 10-15 ft lbs. You could put some compound on it just to make sure it doesn't work loose if they have in fact overtightened it. It's a metric pipe thread so it's tapered and could cause a crack if too tight.

The low oil pressure could be caused by running it out of oil when these things have broken. You could get a mechanical gauge and put it on a "T" or a perm installation complete with tubing. Lets hope it's just a bad reading gauge.

I'm not sure you can even use an impact wrench on the sender.

Does the threaded end break off inside the oil filter housing? Do you have solid mounts? I was thinking the vibration might be causing it to break. This is the first I've ever heard of something like this happening.
 
ok so ehres the deal . the alternator hinge pin had backed halfway out and the alternator was vibrating into the OPSU and breaking it off. after the 5th replacement we got it fixed. thanks for the help though :) :talon:

Argh, I've seen the complaint before with the pivot bolt and it surprises me that people don't notice the Alt is sagging at an angle. However this is a first with it continuing to break the sending unit off and the people who you paid to replace it didn't notice after the second one broke.

The comment about gorillas was in jest, I can't remember if there is enough room to get an impact wrench in there.
